It’s snack time! Roasted nuts really hit the spot when your body is craving a snack. I love trying different flavor combinations. This one was a big hit. Spicy with a little sweet mixed in. And so easy to make!
These will keep in an airtight container or ziploc for quite some time, so make a big batch today and save for later!
Chinese Five Spice Roasted Almonds
slightly adapted from Pinch My Salt
2 cups whole almonds
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix nuts with oil, then spread in one layer on a foil lined baking sheet. Put bowl aside. In another bowl, mix remaining ingredients and set aside.
Bake almonds for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and carefully pour nuts back into original bowl while hot. Add spices to nuts and mix. Put back on sheet pan and bake for another 5 minutes. Remove and let cool completely before transferring to airtight container.
