The weekend is just about here! And so is the rain…LOTS of it. Hope it changes soon so this long weekend can be enjoyed as it should. Parties, parades, BBQs, beaches, pools…nothing but outdoor fun.
Of course, you can’t go anywhere empty handed. And with everything you’ve got going on, there’s probably not much time to prepare something complicated. Which is why you need to pay attention to this post.
The perfect sweet treats for kids and adults, with a little twist for Memorial Day 🙂
Patriotic Vanilla Bean Rice Krispie Treats
slightly adapted from The Crepes of Wrath6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 (10 ounce) bag marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
1 large vanilla bean, split, insides scraped outMelt marshmallows and butter together in a pot until smooth (it helps to spray the spoon you’re mixing with with cooking spray to keep everything from sticking to it). Add scraped vanilla bean and stir to combine. Remove from heat and add cereal. Stir until fully coated.
Press into a greased 9×13 pan. Add sprinkles on top and press lightly. Set aside to cool. Cut pieces using a star shaped cookie cutter and serve.
