Homemade Dulce de Leche

So, remember my apple pie that I posted earlier this week? Well, this is the goodness that rests inside. And it didn’t come out of a jar.

I was always skeptical about making this in the crockpot or stovetop, for some reason. Maybe it’s a fear of the can exploding? I don’t know. What I DO know is that making it in the oven was great. And it only took an hour.

And ohhhh, is it dangerous…

Homemade Dulce de Leche
from Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

that is all.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour milk into a shallow baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and place in a larger roasting pan. Pour hot water in larger pan until it reaches halfway up the outside of the smaller pan.

Bake for one hour. Let cool. Can be stored in a glass jar in the fridge for a week.
